Y5/Y6 GIRLS YORKSHIRE CRICKET FINAL

Screen Shot 2016-07-08 at 12.57.44Thornhill’s Girls Cricket team achieved amazing success this Wednesday 5th July at Wetherby Cricket Club in the County Finals.  Yet again leading the way as our most successful sports team, our girls followed in the footsteps of our previous winners by coming runners up at the Yorkshire Finals. After some very close games in the league part of the tournament, we were unbeaten and finished top of our group.  Most notably we beat Greenhill from Sheffield by one run after Malikah decided to push for 2 runs off the last bowl to win us the game.  We then breezed through the semi finals against  Halifax based School Parkinson Lane.

Then came the final – Thornhill v Greenhill

350 teams entered the tournament and now there were only 2 teams left. We played some outstanding cricket and the game was decided on the last 2 bowls, unfortunately for us we were caught on the boundary which left us needing 8 runs from the last bowl.    Elsie-beth and Shamila were awarded prizes for showing amazing cricket skills thoughout the day and although disappointed, the team can only be proud of themselves for what they have achieved.
