On Friday we had a special Easter Bonnet parade.  Lots of children had been working very hard at home to makes some spectacular bonnets – they all looked amazing and the children were very proud to share their creations.  The audience loved looking at the finished designs and shared their thoughts about how lovely they all looked.

Rotherham Children’s Festival

For Picture This, we have been studying a painting by Pieter Bruegel called Children’s Games.  We have made a material collage of our school playground which is on display at Magna.  We have also written poems, instructions and descriptions relating to the painting.   Some children in Year 5 also went to the ‘Big Blast’ where they play the Glockenspiel.

Rotherham Carnival Saturday 24th September 2016.

The hard work started last term to create some enormous ‘Skulls’ and party ‘Umbrellas’ for the Carnival.  A large group of children and their parents paraded to the sound of Tubular Bells and Samba bands from the Town Centre to Clifton Park along with many other organisations; the streets were a sea of colour! An amazing day was had by all.

The Star

This year is the ninth year of ‘Picture This’.  Our children’s work is on display at Magna until Friday 8th July.  The exhibition is open at weekends from 10am to 3pm.

The pictures the children have created have been inspired by are:

Black Gold II by Yinka Shonibare

Castle and Sun by Paul Klee

Weeping Woman by Pablo Picasso

Do you remember when Years 3 and 4 had a visitor with some special birds?

They have been improving their sketching skills by sketching some of them.

What do you think these pieces of art work will turn into?
