We were honoured this week to be winners at the prestigious Yorkshire Primary P.E and School Sport Premium Sport awards. Two pupils that are highly involved in both school sport and our School Council were invited to accompany Rob Lyne and Mr Little at the awards ceremony which took place at the Pavilions of Harrogate.  We were the winners in the category of Whole School Improvement and received an honourary Plaque which will be proudly displayed in school.

EIS (English Institute of Sport) sports day for Y2 children

30th March 2017

All the Y2 children went to the EIS for an action packed day of sports.  They joined other Rotherham schools in taking part in 18 different sporting activities: 200m running race, long jump, javelin, skipping, parachute, high jump, speed jump, 60m sprint race, obstacle race, basketball, problem solving, throw and catch, dance, target games, netball, tennis, football and triple jump.

Congratulations go to Nikola Matova who threw the Javelin the furthest thrown by any of the girls in today’s event.

On Thursday 16th March the Y5/6 gymnastic team went to the EIS to participate in the South Yorkshire Games which meant they were competing against teams from Sheffield, Doncaster and Barnsley. They had to perform a floor routine and a jump from the vault. A fun day was had by all and the girls came 8th.

On Friday 10th March we took 11 cheerleaders to compete in the Rotherham Cheerleading Competition at Wickersley.

It was the first time we had taken part in a cheerleading competition so we were absolutely delighted to come second!

Thank you Miss Cant for choreographing our routine.

On Wednesday 8th February we took a Y3/4 and Y5/6 squad of gymnasts to compete at Rotherham School’s Gymnastic Final. All the girls performed a floor routine and a jump from the vault. They were all superstars, but our Y5/6 team were amazing as they are the new Rotherham Champions. They are now going to compete in the South Yorkshire final in March. Good luck girls!

Y3/Y4 Basketball – Winterhill Cluster Champions

Last week our Year 3s and 4s became
Winterhill Cluster Champions
when they managed to win all their games without conceding a single goal.

They now go on through to the Rotherham finals, with a chance to progress on to the South Yorkshire Finals as Champions of Rotherham.  Good luck…… watch this space.

Congratulations to our year 5/6 football team for finishing as runners up in the Kids Cup Football Competition.  After a full days football they beat Rawmarsh Rosehill in a nail biting semi finals sudden death penalty shootout.  Unfortunately they ended by losing 2 -1 in the final to Herringthorpe St. Marys.  Great effort guys, well done.

Sports Update

Our year 5/6 girls and boys have been in action at the Rotherham Hockey Finals.  On a bitterly cold day the girls managed to finish as the 5th best team in Rotherham and our boys finished as runners up in 2nd place.  A sterling effort by both teams.  Well done to all that took part.

Our Year 5/6 footballers got off to a winning start in the league this year by beating Ferham Primary School 11-0 away from home.  Great performance guys, keep up the good work.

We also had 13 runners in the Rotherham Cross Country Finals.  These pupils qualified for the final by finishing in the top 10 when competing in the local cluster event.

After a quiet Christmas period for School sport, the tournament events now start to come thick and fast.  This month we have the Rotherham United Kids Football Cup event, year 3 and 4 Basketball and both year 3/4 and 5/6 Gymnastics tournaments.  We are also celebrating our much loved Daily Mile by mixing it up for the day with a special all School ‘Golden Mile’ Day.
