Hello everyone! This will be my final communication with you all as the Head Teacher of Thornhill Primary School. I begin my retirement on Friday 17th July.

It has given me the greatest pleasure to serve you and your families as the Head Teacher, but now it is time for me to relax and chill more! I have been a teacher and Head Teacher for a total of 39 years working in Rotherham. I left university and started teaching at Wath Victoria Primary. Then I was promoted to Canklow Juniors before becoming the Deputy Head at Thornhill and then the Head Teacher.

My key focus has been to nurture and develop your children to be the best they can be. Each and every day they have made me proud in their lessons and in their studies. Each year the progress of each pupil has been phenomenal and I have loved being a part of their achievement journey.

I wish the leaving Year 6 children every success as they move to the Comprehensive School. To all our families and children thank you for amazing times – good luck for the future!!!!

I wish Mrs Hill and the team here at Thornhill every good wish for the future. You can find out about staff for September under the “School staff tab” on our website. Thank you x

Mrs Benton
