The Governing Body is seeking to appoint a Chair of Governors to join their team, to attend / chair meetings term time only. The school is rated by Ofsted as ‘Good’ overall with ‘Outstanding’ Leadership.
Be responsible for ensuring that the Governing Body functions effectively within the
law and upholds the highest professional standards at all times.
Provide the Governing Body with clear leadership and direction.
Work with the Head to promote and maintain high standards of educational
achievement and ensuring that the Governing Body sets a clear vision, ethos and
strategic direction for the school.
Hold the Head to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
and for the appraisal of staff.
Develop a supportive relationship with the Head based on honesty and mutual
Be a ‘critical friend’ to the Head by offering support, challenge and encouragement.
Ensure the Head’s appraisal is managed effectively and is rigorous and robust.
Oversee the financial performance of the school and the effective use of the school’s
Encourage the Governing Body to participate constructively in meetings and
committees. To work together as an effective team, helping them build or contribute
their skills, knowledge and experience to meetings.
Work with the Clerk to the Governors to ensure that the Governing Body conducts
business in accordance with the law.
Effectively chair meetings by ensuring meetings remain focussed and run on time.
Ensure new governors receive induction.
Please note our Spring Term Governing Body Meeting is on Tuesday 10th March at 4pm. The successful candidate will be expected to attend.
