Religious Education

At Thornhill, we follow the agreed syllabus approved by the Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education (SACRE) 2022-2026. It provides a coherent framework for setting high standards of learning in RE, and enabling pupils to reach their potential in the subject. The syllabus is a local, professional, legal and up to date way of delivering all pupils’ RE entitlements.

At Thornhill, we believe that Religious Education (RE) plays an important role in promoting spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development, as well as understanding the diverse beliefs and values in our modern society. However, we fully respect the rights of parents and carers. Under the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 (Section 71), parents have the right to request that their child be excused from all or part of the RE curriculum and collective worship provided by the school. You do not need to give a reason for making this request
